There will be no re-vote on the decision for Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union.

On Saturday, July 9th, the British government rejected a petition that requested a new poll to determine whether the UK will remain in the EU or not.

Although 52% of the population initially voted for the UK to exit the EU, they quickly regretted it as they saw a tremendous decline in the markets.

Over 4 million people signed the petition on the Parliament website. However, Prime Minister, David Cameron, declined it. According to CNN, Cameron stated that the “decision must be respected.”

Brexit was one of the biggest democratic act in British history and that decision must be respected. Therefore, Cameron showed no sign of submitting to a re-vote.

“I might have to disagree with the Prime Minister’s action to reject the re-vote just because it [the withdrawal] was a ‘democratic’ act. Why would a person in a democratic place reject a democratic act [the revote]?” seventh grade student Maryann Park said.
